Power forward Donnavan Kirk, who began his college basketball career at the University of Miami, said Wednesday he is returning to the Hurricanes for his final season of eligibility.
Kirk, who will be eligible this coming season, recently graduated from DePaul and chose UM over Colorado State and overtures from Duke. He will enroll in a business program at UM.
Kirk, 6-9, averaged 6.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.5 blocks for DePaul last season and could end up starting at power forward this season for the Hurricanes.
Kirk appeared in 17 games for UM over two seasons before transferring to DePaul in 2011 in order to be closer to his mother.
He said he was impressed by coach Jim Larrañaga and that the potential of a significant role this upcoming season also factored into his decision.
