Miami Beach mayor to run for City Commission

Long rumored to be considering another run for office, Miami Beach Mayor Matti Herrera Bower on Friday filed paperwork to run for City Commission Seat III in the November general election.

Bower is term-limited from her post as mayor, but the city’s charter allows her to run for another commission seat.

When she was first elected mayor in 2007, Bower became the first woman and the first Hispanic in the city to win the position.
