Hialeah police were investigating an armed carjacking Wednesday morning outside the victim’s home.
Police said the victim had just arrived at his house about 10:50 a.m. when he was approached by a gunman in his early 20s. The man jumped into the 2007 silver Toyota Yaris and fled from the home in the 1600 block of West 62nd Street.
The car’s Florida license tag number is X97 6YD. There are bumper stickers of a Cuban flag and an American flag on the rear bumper.
Police believe the robbery may be connected to a failed carjacking 10 minutes earlier in the 6100 block of West 20th Avenue, a few blocks away. In that case, the would-be car thief approached a man in the parking lot, asked him for his car keys, jumped into the car but could not start it.
Police said they believe the man is armed and dangerous.
Hialeah police asked anyone with information to call 305-687-2525 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
