Beer Academy begins June 25

From food trucks to gourmet cupcakes, culinary trends take their sweet time reaching South Florida. The craft-beer boom is no exception, but Julian Siegel wants to help us get up to speed.

Siegel’s Riverside Market, 608 SW 12th Ave., Fort Lauderdale, which carries more than 550 brews, is hosting the Riverside Market Beer Academy beginning at 7 p.m. June 25. In six one-hour weekly sessions, the program will cover topics including IPA vs. pale ale, stouts vs. porters and home brewing. Cost is $125, with just 20 spots available at www.facebook.com/riversidemarket.
