U.S. 1 near Sheridan Street reopens after pedestrian hit


U.S. 1 was shut down north of Sheridan Street in Dania Beach WEdnesday morning after a pedestrian was hit and killed.

The stretch reopened to traffic after 8 a.m. after being closed for more than two hours.

The Broward Sheriff's Office is investigating in the area just north of Hollywood and looking for a suspect in the hit-and-run.

In another crash farther north on Federal, a driver drove a car into a canal around Northeast 26th Street in Fort Lauderdale in the back of a Bed Bath & Beyond store. The driver was pulled out safely.
