A 15-year-old boy has been charged in the shooting a 15-year-old girl with whom he was walking.

The teenage girl continues to recover at the Broward Health Medical Center after being shot in the chest on Monday.

“Well, I’m shocked. I’m in shock; it’s just crazy,” said parent Wayne Beck.

The 15-year-old victim was shot in the chest while walking in the 1800 block of Northwest 14th Circle in Pompano Beach. One of the boys walking with the girl allegedly pulled the trigger.

Broward Sheriff’s Office investigators said that sorting out the details of what happened has proven tough early in the investigation.

“Detectives are dealing with some different stories,” said BSO spokeswoman Dani Moschella. “Different people are saying different things about what happened.”

Apparently, after the victim was shot, she reportedly walked two blocks to a family member’s house before someone called 911.

Investigators said the girl remained conscious.
