The Herald reported in the May 24 story Text of President Obama speech on terrorism that Obama said that targeted killing of terrorists “risk creating new enemies.” He was further quoted as saying, “Neither I, nor any president can promise total defeat of terror.” These statements show the he doesn’t know or want to recognize that Islamic radicals are America’s self-declared enemy. These Islamics are ideologically committed to using acts of terror as a tactic in this war.
Targeting of these radicals will not make them and their allies any more committed to killing Americans than they are now any more than FDR and Truman’s bombing German and Japanese cities turned friends into enemies. What it may do is make those Muslims who are on the fence join us. By not clearly identifying our self-declared enemy this president is unnecessarily endangering the lives and livelihoods of Americans and alienating those who may be inclined to join us.
