Slimming down for summer: how the stars do it

 

For many, Memorial Day means the tipoff to summer. The tipoff to summer means bikini season. Are you ready? Take some cues from celebs:

Jennifer Aniston can’t get pregnant now. There’s a movie to promote! In the trailer for We’re the Millers, out in August, she plays a stripper who helps a drug dealer. Though audiences may forget about the plot once they see the tighter than ever bod.

How she did it: We all know Aniston is a worker. One of her trainers, Mandy Ingber, tells People she had the actress do a ridiculous amount of yoga and plié squats. “She is very feminine, yet toned. Athletic and slim.”

Trisha Yearwood went from a size 14 to a 10 thanks to lots of protein and commitment. Now it’s about maintenance, she told People, but she will give into indulgences (hello: fast food) every once in a while. Luckily, Trisha’s not a “sweets person.”

Mariah Carey wowed with a new, improved shape earlier this month while debuting her Beautiful video on American Idol. Her personal trainer Bernardo Coppola told Life & Style that Carey sees him about four times a week to do swimming, aquatic exercises, cardio and weights. His Body by Bernardo diet is six small meals a day to up metabolism.

Christina Aguilera: Never one to be outdone, Xtina was looking good at the Billboard Music Awards. Sources close to the singer told E! she’s turned a healthy leaf, “making herself a priority ... This is really from the inside out.”

Mo’Nique isn’t alone in her slimdown journey. The comedian Tweets her progress telling fans what challenges she has put forth for herself, in terms of food and exercise. One recent tip: “Try to get a pedometer, 10,000 steps a day.”

Khloe Kardashian: The pressure’s on to be the hot sister. The 5-10 reality star has managed to shed a whopping 25 pounds in the last few months. Carbs are barely in the picture anymore, and she works out at least four days a week. But KK’s cool with a little more to love. “I don’t expect to be a size 2 and nor do I want to be,” she told Cosmo UK.

Katherine Webb: No doubt Miss Alabama (2012) has felt the sting of hunger pangs. She admitted to People she eats just 1,120 calories daily, about 800 less than normal, to keep sleek. “I try my hardest not to even consider getting something like pasta,” said the Splash star. So no Macaroni Grill with AJ McCarron, tonight?

Hilaria Thomas: “My entire life has been about being in shape,” Alec Baldwin’s way younger wife told Us Weekly. So why slow down now? Spies tell The Daily Mail the pregnant yoga instructor does something sweat-inducing every day, from walking NYC streets to toning sessions at the gym.

LaLa Anthony and her husband Carmelo Anthony both believe in the “60 Days of Fitness” plan started by rapper The Game. “It’s 60 days straight of working out and eating well,” Lala told The NY Post.

Amanda Seyfried: The Les Miserables star is a rare breed who actually laments being thin. “I looked way better when I was 15,” she told Ellen Degeneres. “I had beautiful huge breasts and then I came to Hollywood and I was like, I got to lose weight. I got to look thin and fit in.”
