1 shot dead on lawn of Hialeah home; suspect in custody

Hialeah police on Thursday morning are investigating a homicide at a home that may have stemmed from a landlord-tenant dispute.

Police are questioning someone in custody. The medical examiner's office have removed a body from the lawn of the home near Palm Springs Middle School.

The family renting the home were "calm people," neighbor Michael Allen told Miami Herald news partner CBS4.

An apparent landlord-tenant turned deadly at the home at West 57th Street and 10th Avenue.

Hialeah police said the landlord, armed with a gun, confronted and shot the tenant, who had a baseball bat, according to CBS4. The tenant died in the yard.

This bulletin will be updated as more information becomes available.
