Letter writer Shirlee Leifert suggests that ALF residents are an endangered species, but she’s painting with a very broad brush. A handful of bad players have caused harm, but the vast majority of ALFs are committed to the highest standards of quality care. The few bad players don’t represent the industry as a whole.
We need stricter enforcement of current regulations to ensure that all ALFs are playing by the same rules. Stronger enforcement of current regulations will not only standardize the integrity of this industry, but most importantly, it will guarantee that our residents can enjoy a high standard of living in any ALF in the state.
