Politicians only have to influence one person to be able to please all of the voters. Whether it is gun control or the Marlins Park, a vote either way would make some of the voters unhappy. The solution is to pressure legislative leaders to not allow a vote. When they are with voters who favor the issue they can say they didn’t vote against it; with voters who are opposed they can say they didn’t vote for it. It’s win-win without even doing their jobs.
