Re the May 4 article Ireland, church condemn abortion bill: Why would the Catholic Church find the abortion of a fetus unacceptable when the effects would be even more devastating to a child that’s born without a mother or to her other children if she has any? A life is a life whether it’s a mother or a fetus, but which loss of life would have the greatest impact on the entire family? An unborn fetus or a loving and caring, mother, wife, daughter and sister. But then, of course, the Catholic Church has had an unusual way of looking at social mores since its inception, and it is highly unlikely that it will ever change.
