I applaud the courage of Florida House Speaker Will Weatherford for helping prevent the use of public funds for a private, profitable business, the Miami Dolphins. If enough communities refuse to pay for having a sports business in their area, the teams will finally pay a fair price for their own facilities.
There are too many other uses for scarce tax dollars. Why should the public subsidize these billionaire toys? When they finally sell the teams, they make an obscene profit and never return any of it to the city that made it possible.
