When the early-voting schedule was published on April 28, I noticed that voters in Aventura were redirected to the North Miami Beach Public Library. I showed up at the library that morning. The posted hours were 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Other people were there waiting, but the doors were locked and the lights were out. I asked why there was no voting, and no one there knew anything.
Upon further inquiry at a different polling place I discovered that the hours in North Miami Beach had been changed to the afternoon. No one had the common sense to call the library and ask them to tell people to come back in the afternoon.
Why can’t we have one smooth election? Is it any wonder we continue to be the laughingstock of the country when it comes to voting?
