It’s clear that the April 14 Venezuelan election was an exercise in futility for democrats who want to elect their leaders. With less than a 1-percent margin, votes from United States, Puerto Rico and other areas were not counted. Some deceased voters even voted for Nicolás Maduro, but none voted for Henrique Capriles.
Those who support democracy must not remain silent. We must make our voices heard by those who oppose democracy. Cancelling the visas to the United States of Maduro and the Chávez family is the right thing to do. They are not our friends. In fact, they are enemies of democracy.
