Hollywood police and fire hold open house on Saturday



Firefighters will rappel down a building, put out a fire and show how they rescue a passenger trapped in a smashed car. Police will show how they handle armed gunmen and work with their K-9 counterparts.

The demonstrations are part of the Hollywood Fire-Rescue and Beach Safety Department and the Hollywood Police Department’s annual open house event Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Public Safety Training Facility, 3400 N. 56th Ave. in Hollywood.

The main show will be at 11:30 a.m.

Other activities include: fire hose handling, fire hydrant painting, and interactive fire safety instruction.

The event also will feature a blood drive, mini health fair, and various information booths.
