It’s certainly reassuring to note that egg-laying crocodiles are being relocated because the federal government lists crocodiles as an endangered species.
It’s unfortunate that many of the elderly, languishing in assisted living facilities aren’t also categorized as endangered. They are being raped, beaten and left to the mercy of sadistic and untrained caregivers. Many of these helpless residents have died as a result.
How can anyone turn a blind eye to their plight and allow this horrific situation to continue? How? Because State Rep. Eddy Gonzalez says that he wants to protect these people but the industry can’t be shut down.
How about making the industry conform to basic human needs and protect from abuse those who are unable to protect themselves? ALFs that don’t conform should be shut down, and the people who are guilty of this abuse should be punished.
