When you think about bagpipes, images of the Caribbean automatically spring to mind, don’t they? Aye, turns out Barbados has a rich Celtic legacy due to the number of Scottish, Irish and Welsh indentured servants who chose the West Indies over prison in colonial times — and Bajans will be celebrating that heritage May 23-29 with Celtic Festival Barbados at various locations around the island. Festivities kick off on the Boardwalk at Hastings Rocks on the south coast with a display of Scottish piping.
