Brush fire breaks out in West Miami-Dade

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews are trying to control a brush fire near Southwest 162nd Avenue and Bird Road.

Fire officials received calls around 4:45 p.m. Sunday about a fire spanning 100 acres west of Florida’s Turnpike.

Florida Division of Forestry officials said the fire was about 50 percent contained.

Crews are conducting water drops in the area, according to officials. No homes are affected.
