It’s embarrassing enough to be a resident of Florida when the discussion turns to our governor and Legislature’s attempts to suppress the vote before the 2012 elections, which resulted in long lines on Election Day. Now I am embarrassed to live in a state that is one of only 11 that says it’s OK to text while driving.
The ridiculously watered down “anti-texting” bill discussed during this legislative session required the driver to have done something else illegal in order to be pulled over by a police officer. And the fine for a first texting offense would have been a whopping $30!
Additionally, at this writing, our Legislature is getting ready to turn down federal funding to expand Medicaid, instead letting Florida taxpayers pick up the bill.
