Man shot in Little Haiti

A Little Haiti neighborhood beef escalated to shooting on Thursday, sending one man to Ryder Trauma Center and another to jail.

Accused of firing a handgun “multiple times’’ and hitting another man in the lower right leg: Marcus Ranard Sakers, 26, of the 5700 block of Northwest 4th Avenue.

Miami Police arrested him on an aggravated battery charge near his home.

According to the police report, Sakers approached a man standing in front of 5644 NW 4th Ave. and “began to make derogatory statements directed at him’’ and bystanders. “Soon after, the defendant produced a handgun and fired multiple shots.’’

The victim, whom police have not identified, said that Sakers’ brother had been robbed, and that Sakers suspected the victim was involved.
