Can anyone describe in what alternate universe former U.S. Rep. Lincoln Diaz-Balart lives? Obviously he believes that only he holds the truth on Cuba. Problem is, he has been wrong for decades.
The democratic opposition he alluded to in his April 24 letter, U.S. embargo is necessary, strongly opposes the embargo. Did he listen to Yoani Sánchez a few weeks ago in Miami as he stood next to her? Has he listened to the pope and his message of reconciliation? And, I guess the polls reflecting that a majority of Cuban Americans are against isolation and the embargo or the polls showing Americans’ support for free travel to Cuba just like to China, Vietnam or Saudi Arabia are just mistakes.
Something must have irritated Diaz-Balart. Maybe it was that Beyonce and rapper-businessman Jay-Z’s recent visit to Havana did more to further American culture and capitalism than his utterly failed embargo.
