Rutgers' leading scorer transfers to Florida

Sophomore guard Eli Carter has decided to leave the Rutgers men's basketball program to play for Billy Donovan's Florida Gators.

Carter led Rutgers in scoring with 14.8 points per game last season. He was granted his release from the school after the firing of head coach Mike Rice. Carter plans to petition the NCAA for immediate eligibility.

The 6-foot-2 guard is following in the footsteps of Mike Rosario, who left Rutgers to play for Donovan in 2010. Rosario was one of the key players on Florida's 2012-13 NCAA Tournament team as a redshirt senior.

Carter joins the list of incoming Gators that also includes high school All- Americans Kasey Hill and Chris Walker.
