Whole Foods Market’s new North Miami store ties up traffic

Whole Foods Market’s new North Miami store opened Wednesday.

Midday traffic in the area of Biscayne Boulevard from about 110th to 135th streets was gridlocked as customers headed there for opening-day deals.

The store opened at 9 a.m., and hundreds attended festivities that began at 8 a.m., the company said. Two police officers blocked the U.S. 1 entrance to keep traffic moving.

The first 500 shoppers received a reusable bag with goodies following their shopping experience, and grand opening sales and specials will be offered throughout the store, from Wednesday to Sunday.

Whole Foods Market North Miami is located at 12150 Biscayne Blvd.
