President and CEO of Birks & Mayors Jean-Cristophe Bédos recently hosted a chichi luncheon at the Four Seasons Hotel, where guests reveled in a private viewing of the new Birks Collection, a rich assortment of pendants, stacked rings, snowflake-shaped earrings and engrave able pendants. A common thread is an intricate Moorish motif found on the ceiling of the first Birks boutique, which opened in 1879 in Montreal. The line hits Mayors stores Thursday.

There is no cure for leptomeningeal carcinomatosis — cancer of the membranes around Harper’s brain. The veteran actress says in a statement that the magazine’s reporter misunderstood when she said her most recent full-body scan was clean and that the cancer had not spread.
