California: ‘Alice in Wonderland,’ Maurice Sendack exhibits at Disney Museum

Two special exhibitions are opening next month at the Walt Disney Family Museum in San Francisco. The first, running May 9 through Nov. 3, is Camille Rose Garcia: Down the Rabbit Hole. The show features some 40 works by goth-inspired lowbrow artist Garcia alongside 10 Alice in Wonderland concept paintings by Disney artist Mary Blair from the museum’s collection. The other, Maurice Sendak: 50 Years, 50 Works, 50 Reasons, runs May 23 through July 7 with 50 works by the legendary author and illustrator celebrating the 50th anniversary of his book, Where the Wild Things Are.
