I read Christine Dolen’s April 24 review of the play Anne & Emmett and I think she has confused production with content. I saw this play in St. Louis and thought it was outstanding. But Dolen put her emphasis in the wrong arena: When critiquing a play, there is no need to open with a slanted biography of the playwright.
I agree that the play is unsettling and insightful. Surely, recent events in Boston, Canada and, I’m sure, countless other places confirm the need for people of all ages to be aware of the ramifications of hatred. That’s why everyone should see this play.
