Openings: Whole Foods in North Miami, Mercato in Design District

 

The Whole Foods Market at 12150 Biscayne Blvd., North Miami, opens for business at 9 a.m. Wednesday, with free continental breakfast for those in line from 8 to 9 a.m. and free goodie bags for the first 500 shoppers. Reservations for Monday sneak-preview tours are available at northmiami.wholefoodsrsvp.com. Five percent of opening-day net proceeds will go to the city’s Museum of Contemporary Art; 305-892-5500.

The Design District’s MC Kitchen has opened an adjacent market, Mercato, at 4141 NE Second Ave., Miami, selling takeout salads and sandwiches ($9-$12), soup ($6), baked goods and gourmet grocery items such as Brooklyn Brine Company Pickles, Sir Kensington’s Ketchup and MC Kitchen olive oil. Hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Saturday; 305-456-9948.
