Hair today. Gone tomorrow?
If the Hollywood Rotary club members have their way, Hollywood Commissioner Peter Hernandez’s long gray locks will be chopped into a more conservative ’do.
But it’s all for a good cause.
Hernandez has agreed to cut his hair — which he has been growing for 4½ years — to raise money for college scholarships given by the Rotary Club. Hernandez, who was elected in November, said people have been “bugging” him “forever” to chop off his gray pony tail.
“It’s become a running joke,” he said. “I don’t why other people care so much.”
But if the price isn’t right, Hernandez said he reserved the right to beat the bid. He’s not yet sure how much he is willing to spend to save his hair.
Fellow Rotarian Mark Cutler said there has already been talk of pooling money.
“I think it’s something we all want to see,” he said.
