Bakehouse Art Complex executive director to retire

The executive director of Wynwood’s Bakehouse Art Complex will retire at the end of the June.

Arlys W. Raymond has been with the 26-year-old organization, which is located at 561 NW 32nd St., Miami, since 2007.

In a press release, she was credited with overseeing almost $1 million in capital improvements to the facility, which includes 70 studios and other spaces. She was also lauded for raising the profile of the complex by instituting a professional jury system for artists.

The organization’s board of directors will choose the next executive director by the end of July after a formal search process.
