As a teacher and a parent, I’m concerned about states’ rush to enact the “parent trigger.”
This is a divisive plan that is destroying public education in our country.
It does nothing to strengthen schools, communities or education systems. It does, however, create openings for corporate America to move in, take over and profit based on the premise of creating a quality education for children.
But this hasn’t worked in any community where it has been tried.
So why do we continue to destroy public schools? Because where there is money, there are greedy people who aren’t educators, but who think that they can do our job better than we can. That is what the parent trigger is all about. The children are the real losers.
