Florida: Eight Flags Shrimp Festival on Amelia Island

Amelia Island will be cooking next month with its Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival in historic Fernandina Beach. This year’s theme is the “Year of the Golden Shrimp,” and festivities include a juried fine arts and crafts show, antiques, live entertainment, kids’ activities, contests, pirates and 25 food booths serving up the tastiest shrimp you can find. The event, which started out 50 years ago as a friendly race among local shrimp boat captains, runs May 3-5.
