UM linebacker arrested on drug charges

University of Miami football player Gabe Terry has been arrested on felony drug charges.

Terry, 19, a backup outside linebacker and rising sophomore, has been suspended indefinitely from the football team, according to Chris Freet, spokesperson for the university’s athletic department .

Terry had 26.8 grams of marijuana — less than an ounce — when Coral Gables Police arrested him. Possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana is a felony.

He also faces resisting arrest without violence, according to his arrest affidavit.

Terry is from Wellington and attended Palm Beach Central High School.

The school’s spring roster lists him as 6 foot, three inches tall, and weighs 210 pounds. He played in seven games this past season.

He was suspended late last season and missed two games, though UM coach Al Golden never specified what he had done wrong. He was being held late Friday on a combined $6,000 bond.
