Shame on the senators who voted against the bill to extend background checks to weapons being purchased at gun shows and on the Internet. This would not have infringed on the constitutional right to bear arms. Rather, it would have kept weapons out of the hands of violent criminals and the mentally unstable.
Americans have come to accept some inconvenience to protect ourselves, our families and the public. We wait in lines to have our purses checked before going into sports venues. We gladly wait in lines, take off our shoes and have our personal belongings scrutinized before boarding a plane. We do this for our safety.
How dare those senators now take away our right to feel more safe and secure.
