Metromover reopens after technical glitch

Miami’s automated Metromover train failed to open for service during the rush Thursday morning because of a “technical issue.” But by midday Thursday transit officials had managed to restore service to all stations.

Karla Damian, spokeswoman for Miami-Dade Transit (MDT), said free shuttle buses that ferried passengers between stations were discontinued when trains began moving again.

Metromover has various loops that run through downtown Miami and also north to the Miami-Dade school board building and south to the Brickell Avenue business district.

The service is periodically disrupted by computer glitches, which some experts blame on the complexity of the system.
