A robbery investigation in Kendall turned into a wild shootout late Sunday after a rampaging car went through the police crime tape, hitting other vehicles along the way.
Miami-Dade police investigating the robbery opened fire on the car in an effort to stop it, according to police reports and Miami Herald news partner CBS4. The driver’s thumb was grazed, but he was otherwise unharmed, police said. No one was injured by the 11:30 p.m. vehicle crash in the 5300 block of Southwest 115th Avenue, and police could not say Monday whether there was a link between the apparent attack by the driver and the alleged robbery.
The driver was arrested, but his name was not released by Monday evening. Police also noted that shortly after the robbery, which took place about 10:30 p.m., two men were dropped off at nearby Kendall Regional Medical Center with gunshot wounds. One died there, and the other was taken into surgery, according to the Miami-Dade Police Department.
