Andai shows impressive podium skills in varied Miami Symphony program

Guest conductor Daniel Andai chose Aaron Copland’s original 13-piece chamber version of An Appalachian Spring for the Miami Symphony Orchestra’s concert at Florida International University’s Wertheim Auditorium. Shorn of the thick instrumental textures of the later arrangement for full orchestra, this familiar work proved the highlight of an excellent program Saturday night that also traversed late Richard Strauss and a Mozart masterwork.
