Did you know that roughly 488 million people use Facebook on their mobile devices? According to SocialBakers, a Facebook statistics portal and analytics provider that examined the social network’s mobile penetration in 2012.
Did you also know that, according to Edison Research, a New Jersey-based firm, 23 percent of Facebook users check their accounts at least five times a day? That’s millions of people accessing their Facebook accounts multiple times a day and many from a mobile device.
Twitter is equally as popular among mobile users. According to the social media giant, 62 percent of their 500 million users access Twitter via mobile devices.
Other social networks like Pinterest are also important to note as they continue to gain momentum. According to comScore, Pinterest had an average of 29 million unique visitors in 2013. The online pinboard site saw a 1,698 percent increase in mobile usage last year, according to the Nielsen 2012 Social Media Report.
So how can you increase your company’s presence in the mobile arena? Here are five tools to help you.
Viral Lock — If you’ve got a Wordpress site for your business, this is an interesting tool that allows you to “lock” your premium content such as sales, discounts and other special promotions. To get access to the content, a user has to take a social action such as liking your Facebook page, tweeting a link to their followers, or giving it a +1 on Google +, before it can be viewed. A word of advice here, if you use this plugin don’t lock all of your content, just things that reward the user for taking the time to share it with their friends and followers. At a cost of just $16, this tool may be worth trying in an effort to increase your mobile footprint through content sharing. Get more information here - http://bit.ly/Zoq3Rc
Cyfe – This tool is essentially a dashboard that lets you manage your social media accounts from one place. There are many such dashboards out there. The interesting thing about Cyfe is the monitoring of mobile performance. Want to know how your Facebook page is doing on mobile devices? Cyfe has you covered. This tool integrates with over 25 popular social networks and provides real-time data. Cyfe pricing starts at free and goes up to $16 a month for a premium account. Find out more here – www.cyfe.com.
Commun.it – This tool allows you to increase your social media reach, including mobile, by grouping your Twitter users into three different categories. Once your followers are grouped, the tool lets you analyze how they’re engaging with you. You can also instantly identify your top followers and craft targeted mobile campaigns to get them interacting with your small business. Check out this free tool here – www.commun.it/
Social Crawlytics – This is a free tool that analyzes URLs to see how popular they are across different social media platforms. This is important because it allows you take a single URL, such as a link to your latest discount promotion and in a matter of seconds gives you information on how it is performing. Information like how many people have tweeted your link, who has shared it on Pinterest and which one of your loyal followers posted it on Facebook is available with Social Crawlytics. Google Analytics – This free tool is still one of the best out there. It allows you track mobile traffic across multiple devices.
It can also tell you exactly how many people accessed your small business website from a particular device and where they are coming from. This will help you better plan and target your mobile content.
To access your mobile traffic quickly, log into Google Analytics, click on the “Audience” tab on the left-hand side of the page and then click on “Mobile.” http://www.google.com/analytics/
