The owner of a late-night Miami Beach burger joint asked for help from cops at dawn one morning last week after rapper Busta Rhymes allegedly went berserk over condiments.
What was ailing the singer of What's It Gonna Be?
Says Cheeseburger Baby owner Stephanie Vitori: “He wanted ketchup and mayo on the burger, not on the side.
“It was a little drastic over something this small, but he’s a big guy and he was a few feet away and his hands almost reached us.”
A squad car stood by about 6 a.m. Wednesday when Vitori closed down, but there was no more trouble.
Cheeseburger Baby is a favorite with night owls and celebs. It’s not rare to spot the likes of Jay Z, Beyonce and Miami Heat stars chowing down in the Washington Avenue establishment.
“We’ve never had trouble with any celebs here,” Vitori said.
That’s until Rhymes’ posse went in and demanded five cheeseburgers. They also wanted to be served ahead of other customers because someone “real famous” was waiting in the car.
Vitori said her little place was packed, and she told them: “First come, first served.”
The posse eventually left with the burgers.
The real trouble came minutes later when the rapper noticed his condiments weren’t on the burger — something that Vitori does to prevent soggy buns — and personally came in.
Said Vitori: “He was so rude. He told my checkout clerk: ‘F--- you! I'm not leaving until I get ketchup, mayo, salt and pepper on my burger.’ And when I intervened, he goes: ‘F. . . you, b----!’ ”
Vitori said Rhymes, whose real name is Trevor Smith Jr., went on and on until she called 911.
By the time cops got there, the crew was gone.
Rhymes’ publicist did not return calls for comment.
The burglary of Heat star Chris Bosh’s Miami Beach home Wednesday night overshadowed the fact he was having a hell of a birthday party across the bay while the crime was committed.
Bosh celebrated his 29th birthday Moroccan-style at Briza on the Bay in downtown Miami.
There were two live camels, Bedouin decorations, hookahs on every table and belly dancers.
Bosh and wife Adrienne arrived in dramatic fashion: They flew the five miles from home in a helicopter, and disembarked as March of the Valkyries played, Apocalypse Now-style!
Bosh and the missus then took an antique boat to the party, just a few feet away from the chopper.
Wearing desert garb: Teammates LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Udonis Haslem, Shane Battier, Chris Andersen, Mario Chalmers, Norris Cole, Rashard Lewis, Ray Allen, Joel Anthony and Juwan Howard.
Heat owner Micky Arison came, but not dressed up.
And finally, a South Florida who’s who is in Puerto Rico this weekend for the wedding of socialites J.R. and Loren Ridinger’s daughter Amber to little-known actor soap Duane McLaughlin.
The last time we heard of the Market America founders, they were the targets of an extortion attempt. Hundreds of letters spelling out outrageous allegations of drug abuse and sexual shenanigans were sent to their closest friends.
As a probe continues, the over-the-top wedding events are taking place at the Ritz Dorado Beach. According to the New York Post, guests include singers Marc Anthony, Fat Joe, Alejandro Sanz and Mary J. Blige, reality TV star Khloe Kardashian and NBA legend Scottie Pippen.
