Prosecutors have rejected a plea offer from the Colorado movie theater killer. He murdered 12 people and wounded many others. With the plea of guilty, the killer would get life in prison, instead of the death penalty, with no chance of parole.
Prosecutors’ decision to pursue the death penalty will delay the trial from August to February 2014. I think justice would be better served by accepting the plea and putting this killer in prison. But don’t give him a safe, secluded cell where he can enjoy his meals while watching television.
Put him into the general prison population and have him take his exercise in the outdoor yard. There, inmates will mete out justice daily to this savage killer, and within six months, he will be begging for a fatal injection.
