A Hollywood golf instructor, who was arrested over the weekend on charges of molesting a 13-year-old boy, is now facing new charges after a 15-year-old came forward this week with allegations of abuse, Hollywood Police confirmed Tuesday.
Ricardo Moreno, 52, of Aventura, turned himself in Tuesday to Browards Main jail, where he remained Tuesday night.
Moreno is one of the founders of RSM Golf, a company that runs clinics in Dade and Broward for youngsters.
According to the arrest report, a 13-year-old boy told police in a taped interview that Moreno, who teaches golf at Hillcrest Golf and Country Club, would always stretch him out prior to the golf lessons to avoid injury.
On two occasions, Moreno touched his genitals, the boy told police.
The victim advised that he thought it was weird and he was very uncomfortable about the situation, the report states.
Police first interviewed Moreno on Saturday. According to the report, Moreno told police he uses a technique of stretching the victim out and relieving tension by touching the genital area.
Moreno acknowledged he did not have a medical background, police said.
He was arrested on two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation on a victim between the ages of 12 and 16, but bonded out of jail over the weekend.
Hollywood Police spokesman Pablo Vanegas said Hollywood detectives continued to work on the case and located an additional victim.
It is not clear what the additional charges will be, Vanegas said Tuesday.
The general manager at Hillcrest, who declined to give his name, said Moreno was a contractor and the country club is cooperating with police.
The country clubs website lists RSM Golf as the company to call for junior clinics. The company provides summer and after school lessons. The website boasts about the companys nine core values including honesty, courtesy and respect.
A call to RSM Golf was not returned Tuesday night.
A parent of one of Morenos students told WFOR-CBS4 that he couldnt believe the charges.
To me it sounds like a misunderstanding, said Robert Lechter. He has an excellent reputation, hes a family man, a completely reliable person, just a great guy.
Vanegas said Tuesday that with an additional victim coming forward, police worry there could be more victims.
Hopefully this is it, he said. But if someone sees this and is a victim or knows someone that is, we are asking them to come forward.
