In February, I received a renewal notice from Miami-Dade Auto Tag Agency and a form and envelope to renew by mail. I filled out the form and forwarded it and my check for $58.35 on March 1. The form said to allow 10 days for processing. I waited for three weeks, then called the agency. I was told by a recording that county fiscal budget cuts had forced the discontinuation of telephone personnel at that location. My bank affirmed my check was cashed on March 4.
In the ensuing days I was shuttled to three different offices. My wife checked with a private auto-tag agent and learned that the county hadn’t even begun processing my paperwork. Our mayor had no problem assembling an army of telephone workers to harass voters day and night for weeks during his campaign. Now he’s a do-nothing politician.
