Coming off its fourth state boys’ basketball championship in the past eight seasons, Norland earned a pair of state accolades Thursday.

Junior guard Zachary Johnson was named the state’s Class 6A Player of the Year, and coach Lawton Williams was named the Class 6A Coach of the Year by the Florida Dairy Farmers Association.

Both are finalists for the association’s overall awards to be announced next month.

Johnson averaged 13.3 points, 4.1 assists, 2.7 steals and 2.2 rebounds per game and made 115 three-pointers for the Vikings. Williams led Norland to a 26-5 record and became only the third coach in Miami-Dade County history to win four state titles.
