Still, that wasn’t enough to spare the actor, 38, from the pain of the housing bust. Public records show that Phillippe bought the property for $7.175 million in 2008, after his eight-year marriage to actress Reese Witherspoon ended.

Muselli Lerner, who died last year, became an attorney at 20 in France and worked with the Resistance as a criminal defense lawyer during the German occupation. She and Lerner met after she came to New York in 1957 on business.
Lerner died in 1986 at 67.
Art director Robert Stromberg, 47, has listed his house in Playa del Rey at $1.599 million.
