Three boats burn at Pompano Beach marina

The cause of a fire that damaged three boats docked at a Pompano Beach marina Thursday afternoon is under investigation, fire rescue officials said.

The smoky fire broke out around 6 p.m. at Marine Max at 700 S. Federal Hwy., said spokeswoman Sandra King.

“We arrived to see very, very heavy black smoke and three boats on fire,” King said. No details were released about the amount of damage sustained by the boats.

The dark, billowing smoke was visible miles away.

There were no reported injuries.

What sparked the blaze is still under investigation.
