Traffic alert: Krome Avenue partially closed in Homestead

Authorities are warning drivers in Homestead that repair projects on Krome Avenue will cause lane closures until Friday night.

From 7 a.m. to 7 pm., drivers will only be allowed to use only one lane on Krome Avenue from Southwest 220 to 245 Street.

This is while workers from Lynn Services, a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) contractor, apply asphalt and a polymer binder to existing cracks on the road.

Weather conditions and other unforeseen circumstances could alter work schedules, FDOT spokeswoman Maribel Lena said in a statement. The FDOT’s maintenance project is meant to extend the life of the asphalt to reduce the number of state resurfacing projects.
