A man wanted for a year-old Miami Beach murder was captured Tuesday night in Citrus County.
Pedro Exposito is accused of the April 2012 murder of Robert Lakatos.
Members of the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office took him into custody.
Investigators say Exposito arrived at a known drug location, then provided deputies with a false name before fleeing. He was ultimately caught, police said.
Once Exposito was transferred to the jail during the booking process, police discovered there was a warrant out for his arrest in connection with Lakatos’ April 6, 2012 murder.
Lakatos was 16, when he was gunned down after an apparent armed robbery in Miami Beach last year. According to police, Lakatos was out with one of his brothers just before midnight near the 79th Street beach entrance when he was shot.
At the time, police released this description of the assailant: Roughly 6 feet tall around 180 pounds with short fade-type blonde hair, reportedly has a tattoo of a marijuana leaf on his chest area.
It is unknown whether Exposito has a tattoo.
