Re the March 20 article, Budget cuts trigger delays, missed flights: The explanation for the long lines at Miami International Airport’s Customs and Border Protection given by the Department of Homeland Security is pure bunk.
It’s not the sequester effect. The number of inspectors has been inadequate for more than a year.
Even before the sequester, the lines could be two hours to three hours long, and passengers have missed connecting flights for months.
Homeland Security and its managers are derelict, incompetent and should be fired, starting with Janet Napolitano.
