Letter writer Irene Swanson ridiculed the Affordable Care Act. She seems to be out of touch with the needs of the sick. A close family member was recently diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. At the same time her health insurance company advised that it was canceling insurance policies for her professional organization. No other carrier would provide coverage for her.
However, starting Jan. 1, because of the Affordable Care Act, she will be able to get coverage because insurance companies no longer will be able to deny coverage for a pre-existing illness. If not for the ACA, it would be an even-more serious problem.
Wake up!
