South Dade softball rallies past American 9-4

Miami Herald Staff Reports

In a veritable “tale of two pitchers,” the South Dade softball team rallied for a 9-4 victory over American on Wednesday.

South Dade trailed 3-1 until the fourth when winning pitcher Christina Bramblett tripled in three runs to give the Buccaneers the lead.

Samantha Cardillo relieved Bramblett in the fifth and continued to put defensive pressure on the Patriots, but her moment really came in the sixth when her line-drive homer to left-center helped to seal the win. Cardillo went 3 for 4 with two runs and two RBI.

South Dade (13-8) faces Varela on Thursday night at home in its last district game of the regular season.
